FRESHMEN YEAR EVENTS:

Econ Scream

The Class Board held Econ Scream, a long time tradition held the night before the econ midterm on Sunday October 5th, 2009 on top of the Junior Balcony above McClelland Hall in the Quad. Before midnight, the Class Board passed out hundreds Dunkin’ Donuts donuts to the freshman class while the freshmen listened to a live acoustic guitarist. President Jibran Khan led the countdown to midnight at which the freshman class screamed loudly in unison to relieve their stress.

Homecoming

On November 1st, 2009, the Class Board spent the entire morning passing out freshman homecoming T-shirts with the slogan “Dirty Dozen” on Locust Walk. Then the Class Board sang the “Red and the Blue,” a traditional Penn song, with the Glee Club.

Cram ‘n’ Jam

The Class Board held the annual Cram ‘n’ Jam on Monday December 8th in Houston Hall. This event was held during reading days as an opportunity for freshmen to de-stress and get help from a tutor. The Class Board passed out slices of Allegro’s pizza, Monster Energy drinks, and the extremely popular gold-plated Penn bookmarks.

Freshman Formal

The Class Board organized the Masquerade themed Freshman Formal on Saturday February 7th in Houston Hall of Flags. The Board spent over five months planning the Formal and it definitely turned out to be a tremendous success. Over 600 students attended and the bottom floor of Hall of Flags was completely packed. The hall was decorated with gold stars, festive string lights, and red and gold metallic balloons. DJ Ricco provided music throughout the evening while professional caterers served delicious appetizers, such as mozzarella sticks and miniature pizzas, and chocolate desserts. Later in the evening, there was a lottery sponsored by the Penn Club of New York for an all expensed paid trip to New York City, all day subway passes, and a tour of the Penn Club of New York. As guests departed, they were treated to a blue ceramic keepsake mug decorated with the Penn logo and the 2012 emblem.
